Well, one thing is sure from the first week of NFL free agency: Illinois sports betting fans know the league landscape at quarterback has changed, for sure.
A prime example of that is Justiin Fields. Many felt that the Chicago Bears might move on from Fields and choose a new franchise quarterback with the first selection in the NFL draft. And that part has played out.
How it played out was a surprise, though.
IllinoisBet.com – your source for Illinois betting apps - has been breaking down the odds on which team could land Fields this offseason. We did so with the notion that Fields would be acquired to start for the new team.
Our most recent odds shifted (see chart below) when the Atlanta Falcons signed Kirk Cousins and the Pittsburgh Steelers landed Russell Wilson.
In fact, in the first few weeks of our hypothetical odds, we had Pittsburgh as the No. 1 destination for Fields.
Fields is going to Pittsburgh, after all. The Steelers acquired him over the weekend from Chicago for a 2025 sixth-round pick. That pick could become a fourth-rounder if Fields plays 51% of the Steelers' snaps. That seems unlikely, with Wilson projected to be the starter.
Meanwhile, Bears fans are now focused on who the Bears will draft. Chicago has the No. 1 pick (via the Carolina Panthers).
